Three Butler County row offices are ensuring needy children receive a visit from Santa this year.

Butler County Sheriff Mike Slupe credited Deputy Rick Nicholas for spurring the toy collection.

Nicholas got the idea from a similar collection done with Pittsburgh police, where he was formerly employed.

Donations from the sheriff’s, prothonotary and clerk of courts offices will provide gifts for 35 children through Family Pathways.

“It really took off,” Nicholas said.
