Mary Ruth Haer

Mary Ruth Carlile Haer, 94 of Barnegat, N.J., died Wednesday at her home surrounded by her family.

She was known and loved for her gracious manner. She engaged and influenced countless others through her long career of teaching and church activities.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of a Methodist minister, she graduated from California (Pa.) State Teachers College. She taught first grade for 12 years in Warren, Pa. She retired to Springhill, Fla.

She was especially proud of her membership in the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

She moved to Barnegat 3Z\x years ago and was an active member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church and its women's group in Beachwood, N.J.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 55 years, the Rev. Frederick B. Haer.

She is survived by a daughter and her husband, Marilyn H. and the Rev. Gordon Odmark of Barnegat; two sons and daughters-in-law, Frederick C. and Jill Haer of Brunswick, Maine, and John L. Haer and his wife, Joni Rabinowitz of Pittsburgh; four grandchildren, Kristin, Wendy, Andrew and David; and six great-grandchildren. Madeline, Theresa, Natalie, Jonah, Rachael and Christopher; and a great-great-grandchild, Andorai.

<B>HAER </B>— Funeral services for Mary Ruth Carlile Haer, who died Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2007, will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the New Life Lutheran Church, Marion Center, Indiana County. Burial will follow.Memorial donations may be made to the Southern Ocean Home Health & Hospice, 1140 Rt. 72 West, Manahawkin, N.J. 08050; or to the Frederick and Mary Haer Memorial Fund, New Life Lutheran Church, Box 219, Marion Center, Indiana County, PA 15759.<B>Barnegat Funeral Home</B>, Barnegat, N.J., is in charge of arrangements.
