Butler Twp PoliceTuesday — Police are investigating recent break-ins of sheds and garages on or near South Home Avenue.Patrick McGee said someone overnight Monday cut the padlock on the shed at his South Home Avenue home, but nothing, however, was apparently taken. The same shed was broken into the night of July 11, and two gas cans stolen.On that same July night, police said, two of McGee's neighbors reported similar break-ins. Asmall toolbox with tools, three fishing rods, a pair of Oakley sunglasses, and a wallet with $250 were taken in those thefts.

3:40 p.m. Wednesday — Two people were injured in a three-vehicle crash on Route 68 near Ash Avenue in Forward Township.The collision involved a sport utility vehicle driven by Delores Klein, 17, of Mars; a car driven by Sharon Carter, 41, of Cranberry Township, and a pickup truck driven by Dean Hamilton, 52, of Evans City.Carter and a passenger in her car were treated at UPMCPassavant Cranberry for minor injuries.8:54 a.m. Wednesday — A car driven by Jason Koscho, 26, of Valencia struck a guardrail and flipped onto its roof on Park Road in Middlesex Township. Police said Koscho was cited for driving too fast for conditions.2:06 a.m. Wednesday — Elizabeth Woolner, 23, of Valencia was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence at Route 228 and Brewer Road in Clinton Township.Wednesday — A burglar stole undisclosed property between 11:20 a.m. Tuesday and 9:20 a.m. Wednesday after breaking into the Lardintown Road home of Michael Grey in Clinton Township.12:30 p.m. Tuesday — Police said Connie M. Williams, 43, of Chicora was arrested for violating a protection from abuse order after she contacted Karl Eric Williams, 47, on Butternut Road in Karns City.Tuesday — Someone damaged a refrigerator, hot water tank and six window panes between July 22 and Tuesday after breaking into the Duffy School Road home of Priscilla Ann Householder inChicora. Police estimated damage at $1,000.Noon Saturday — Bruce E. Simms, 50, of Evans City was arrested for violating a protection from abuse order by contacting Marcia Simms, 50 at her May Lane home in Forward Township. Bruce Simms was arraigned on the PFAviolation, and placed in the Butler County Prison on $3,000 bond.

1:20 p.m. Wednesday — A car driven by Jackqueline Shaffer, 28, of Worthington crashed into a tree on Route 1011 just south of Worthington, in West Franklin Township, Armstrong County. Shaffer suffered minor injuries.7:35 p.m. Tuesday — Police said drug charges are pending against three Kittanning men following a traffic stop at Route 356 and Harbison Road in Buffalo Township, Butler County.A search of the suspects' car turned up suspected heroin, a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, a police report said.The report noted one of the men, James Carney, 31, was placed in the Armstrong County Jail for a probation violation. Police did not identify the other men, both 29 years old.

9 p.m. Wednesday — A 17-year-boy reportedly escaped form the George Junior Republic juvenile detention facility in Pine Township, Mercer County. The youth was caught about an hour later not far from the facility.Tuesday — Thomas P. Brown, 28, of Grove City was arrested in connection with the Aug. 14 break-in at the Subway restaurant inside the Kwik Fill store on Route 208 in Springfield Township, Mercer County.Police said Brown, a former Subway employee, made off with $280 he had taken from a safe. The defendant was arraigned on charges of burglary and theft, and placed in the Mercer County Jail on $15,00 bond.Investigators, meanwhile, said Brown is also a suspect in two other burglaries at Subway restaurants.1:55 a.m. Saturday — Someone threw several ears of corn that hit and damaged a passenger window of a vehicle eastbound on Interstate 80 in Wolf Creek Township, Mercer County. The driver, a Delaware man, was not hurt.
