Butler Fall Festival hits Main Street this Saturday
Summer has officially clocked out, and it’s time to break out the hoodies and other warm weather gear.
The annual Butler Fall Festival will be gracing Main Street in Butler this Saturday, Oct 1, with activities and vendors planned for all age groups.
"It's an art and cultural event for our community,“ festival president Christina Green said. ”It's a festival to bring our small businesses and artisans together and bring them to our community. It's growing and booming and such a great place to be."
The festival is planned to run Saturday from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m., rain or shine, and compared to years past, Green expects anywhere between 3,000 and 4,000 people to storm Main Street throughout the day.
Those in attendance will get to enjoy activities such as a car show, a children’s zone, artisan and craft vendors, food vendors and live music.
"I would guess there will be about 100 cars,“ Green said. ”They have a good chunk of Main Street that is blocked off for the car show. We also will have about seven bands playing."
The bands and artists include Donny Eozzo, The Mojo Show and The Rust Belt.
One thing Green explained that will be different this year compared to previous years is the layout of the event.
She said instead of there being different zones, everything will be blended together.
"You don't want to put a candle place right beside another candle place,“ Green said. ”You want to make sure there is space so nobody is stepping on each other's toes."
For the children, there will be face-painting stations and other things for them to touch and create, Green said.
“I don't want to give too much away because I just want people to come and experience it,” Green said.
Green explained that businesses located on Main Street will venture outside or open their doors to welcome the large crowd, while furniture artists and jewelry vendors alike from outside the city will be in attendance.
“Our goal is when you support a small business, you're supporting families,” Green said. “You're supporting our community by being part of our community."
The best way to experience the event, Green said, is to come with your eyes empty and stomach empty because there is so much to touch, see and taste.
"I will be as close to the food as I can,“ Green said. ”I love street food, and I love the smell of candle-makers and hearing the kids laughing and playing. I like to hear the camaraderie of our community. It's just humbling to see our community and enjoy the fact that (the festival) is back on Main Street for the first time since COVID started."
