Merle Reeseman
Merle Reeseman, of Grove City, passed away Sunday, Sept. 25, 2022, at Select Specialty Hospital–Alle Kiski in Natrona Heights.
She was born in Norwood, Suffolk County, Mass., to Elwin Ross Vernon McNutt and Gertrude Agnes Bell McNutt.
She married Thomas O. Reeseman on Feb. 16, 1974.
Merle attended Boston University and retired as a Real Estate associate broker for McGowan Real Estate in Slippery Rock.
She was a member of the Mercer County Association of Realtors and was a member and past president of the American Businesswomen’s Association, Wolf Creek Charter Chapter.
Merle was a member of the Harmony Presbyterian Church in Harrisville, and a former member of the Slippery Rock Rotary Club.
She was courageous and showed great poise and determination in her battle with pulmonary hypertension, and she helped others who also shared in that struggle.
She worked to institute legislation that created “Pulmonary Hypertension Awareness Day” for the states of Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and Ohio. She was active in inaugurating support groups for people with pulmonary hypertension in the cities of Farrell, Cleveland, Ohio, and Pittsburgh.
Survivors include her husband, Thomas, at home; two daughters, Elizabeth (Kevin) Mershimer of Indianapolis, Ind., and Tammy Lanzilatti of Grove City; her son, Timothy (Heather) Reeseman of Slippery Rock; two brothers, Kenneth McNutt of Sacramento, Calif., and Robert McNutt of Holliston, Mass.; seven grandchildren, Annette Mershimer, Jerod Mershimer, Nolan Mershimer, Nicole Lanzilatti, Haley Lanzilatti, Tessa Reeseman and Christopher Reeseman; and her great-grandchildren, Rae Lynn, Rylee, Bryson, Danielle, Xander and Sophie.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a daughter, Sharon.
REESEMAN — The family of Merle Reeseman, who died Sunday, Sept. 25, 2022, will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Harmony Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 234 North Main St., Harrisville, with the Rev. Jeffery Jones presiding.
Interment will be in Harmony Cemetery in Harrisville.
Memorial contributions may be given to Heart Failure and Pulmonary Hypertension at Cardiovascular Institute at Allegheny Health Network for research.
