ALLEGHENY COUNTY — The Pennsylvania Turnpike is closed westbound between the Butler and Allegheny Valley interchanges due to a tractor-trailer accident, according turnpike officials.

The accident occurred at mile 44.5 in a construction zone about 11 a.m. The driver of the rig was taken to a hospital with unknown injuries.

Drivers are being detoured using Freeport Road, Route 910 and Route 8.

The road is expected to be re-opened by 1 p.m., officials said.
