Woman, 82, mistakes gas for brake, rams post office

GIBSONIA — Police say an 82-year-old who meant to step on the brake hit the gas instead and rammed her car into a post office. Northern Regional Police Chief Robert Amann said the woman wasn’t hurt and won’t be charged. There were no customers in the Gibsonia Post Office when the crash occurred at 11 a.m. Wednesday.

The car smashed through the doors, through the lobby and stopped in the sorting room. No one was hurt. The post office remained open for limited business.
