John Keegan
John “Jack” B. Keegan, 82, of Butler, passed away on Sept. 20, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was the beloved and devoted husband for 39 years to the late Agnes McGuire Keegan.
He was the proud and loving father of Kerry Keegan (Kevin) Mulhern, Michael (Erin) Keegan, John Brian Keegan Jr., Padraic “Paddy” Keegan and Kevin Keegan; brother of Edward “Ricky” Keegan and Ernest (Carole) Keegan; and Pap Pap of Ronan and Damien Mulhern, and Hayden and Logan Keegan.
He was born and raised in Lawrenceville. He was an avid ball player and athlete, and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School Class of 1958.
With hard work, a vision, sacrifice and dedication, Jack was a self-made man. He worked his way up from a draftsman at United Engineering to a top sales performer at J.P. Murray and Company, and finally became owner and president of The Kerry Company Inc., a hydraulic engineering firm located in Hampton Township.
Jack was a talented artist and craftsman, and received many awards for his intricate woodworking on flintlocks and muzzleloaders. In addition to building Kentucky long rifles, he was a longtime member of Sample’s Border Rangers.
In addition to his strong Catholic faith and love of family, he was extremely proud of and loved his Irish heritage. A 50-plus-year member of the Knights of Equity Court 9, he was once very active in the Irish community of Pittsburgh. He was a lover of Irish music, culture and tradition. In his later years, he learned to play the bagpipes quite well, and looked very dashing and handsome in his kilt.
His Irish eyes, beautiful smile and warm handshake will be terribly missed.
The family wishes to thank Ethel Harris and family for their undying commitment, and for their direction and care of Jack and Aggie over this past year.
