Morledge

The Rev. Dr. Richard A. Morledge, 90, of St. Barnabas Communities in Valencia, died on Sept. 18, 2022.

Dr. Morledge was the son of the late Rev. Dr. Joseph S. Morledge and Margaret Hodge Morledge of Pittsburgh; and the brother of the late Joann Morledge Michaelian of Newport News, Va.

Surviving is a brother-in-law, Charles T. Michaelian of Newport News, Va.; his nephews, Thomas J. Michaelian of Ashburn, Va., Richard C. Michaelian of Mechanicsburg, Pa., and Paul Michaelian of Virginia Beach, Va.; and his niece, Margaret Michaelian DeJournette of Burlington, N.C.

He was a graduate of Grove City College and Princeton Theological Seminary, and was the recipient of two honorary doctoral degrees.

Dr. Morledge served as pastor of the Hickory Presbyterian Church in Hickory, Pa., from 1957 to 1960, and was a visiting lecturer in religion at Washington & Jefferson College in Washington, Pa., from 1959 to 1960. From 1960 to 1995, he served as pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Bakerstown. From 1984 to 1999, he also served as the dean of the chapel at Grove City College in Grove City. For 27 years, he maintained a ministry through Pittsburgh radio stations. He was a trustee of Grove City College, and the alumni association of the college awarded him the Distinguished Service Award in 2017.

Richard was a 33rd degree Mason from Richard Vaux 454 Burgettstown, Pa.

MORLEDGE — Friends of the Rev. Dr. Richard A. Morledge, who died Sunday, Sept. 18, 2022, will be received from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at SCHELLHAAS FUNERAL HOME, 5864 Heckert Road, Bakerstown.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at First Presbyterian Church of Bakerstown, 5825 Heckert Road, Bakerstown.

Private interment will be held in Chartiers Cemetery, Carnegie, Pa.
