12:29 a.m. Saturday — Jahote C. Dorsey Jr., 19, of Butler was charged with possessing a small amount of marijuana after police picked him up on another warrant.Police saw Dorsey, who was wanted by the department, sitting on a set of stairs along West Jefferson Street.When police took him into custody, Dorsey admitted to having marijuana hidden in his hair.He was transported to Butler County Prison and charged.

7:45 a.m. Thursday — William J. Cress, 44, of Butler was rear-ended along Route 28 in Aspinwall, Allegheny County.Cress had slowed down for congested traffic when his Jeep was struck by a car driven by Lauren E. Schlegel, 22, of Tarentum.Schlegel was charged with following too closely.8:29 a.m. Tuesday — An illegal U-turn led to a hit-and-run accident along Route 28 just north of the Pittsburgh Mills Mall in East Deer Township, Allegheny County.Jamie J. Mellish, 33, of East Butler was attempting to turn through the emergency pull through between the north and south lanes when she pulled out in front of a tractor-trailer driven by Nimrod J. McCoy Jr., 37, of Fairview, W.Va.McCoy was unable to stop in time and collided with Mellish's car, pushing it into the Russelton/Creighton Exit sign along the east shoulder of the road.Mellish drove away from the scene, but drove back through as McCoy was being interviewed by police.She was stopped shortly later and given multiple traffic citations, including failure to obey traffic devices.

4:34 p.m. Sept. 28 — Nicklas J. Whallin, 20, of Slippery Rock crashed his pickup truck after its steering system failed.Whallin was driving down Harlansburg Road in Scott Township, Lawrence County, when his steering malfunctioned, causing him to lose control of the vehicle.The truck struck a rocky embankment three times before coming to a rest.
