BC3 offers new online certificate
BUTLER TWP — Starting this fall, Butler County Community College will begin offering its 17-credit Basic Manufacturing, Workplace Certificate program online.
“I am not aware of anyone regionally doing this type of workplace certificate with the breadth of foundational skills,” said Matt Kovac, the college’s dean of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Division.
Online courses offered this fall toward the certificate include technical math, technical graphics and AutoCAD and computer numerical control programming.
In the spring of 2018 students pursuing the certificate would take courses in geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, manufacturing processes and materials, and college writing or speech.
The certificate is the first in BC3’s STEM Division to be offered entirely online, Kovac said. It is the fifth BC3 program available entirely online.
