Dennis and Dianna Herrit were honored with this month's Neighborhood Pride Award at Thursday's Butler City Council meeting at the city building.

The Herrits remodeled their home at 609 N. McKean St., doing the work themselves. They painted the house with Dennis' custom-mixed color, and added custom-made rounded-shake shingles.

“It was noticeable by members of the (Neighborhood Pride Committee) that you've taken pride in your neighborhood and set an example for others to follow, so we thank you so much for that,” said Councilman Kenny Bonus.

Dennis Herrit returned the sentiment.

“I thought that was very gracious of (the committee), and the neighbors have been very supportive and a very friendly bunch of people,” he said.

Each month, Butler residents are recognized for the award.
