Shewalter 50th anniversary
T. William and Mary Ellen Shewalter of Butler celebrated 50 years of marriage with a brunch with friends at the Butler Country Club.
Shewalter married the former Mary Ellen Larkin on Aug. 23, 1959, in St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler.
They have seven children, Mary Goodwin of Milford, Conn., Will Shewalter of West Lawn, Berks County, Paul Shewalter of Columbia, S.C., Bruce Shewalter of Honolulu, Christopher Shewalter, also of Honolulu, Barry Shewalter of Egg Harbor Township, N.J., and Suzanne Brown of Butler.
They also have eight grandchildren.
Mr. Shewalter is retired from UBS Investments. He is a member of the Elks, American Legion, Knights of Columbus and the Butler Country Club.
Mrs. Shewalter is retired from Butler Intermediate High school, where she was the foreign language department chair and a history teacher. She is president of the Butler Garden Club, AAUW, Butler Hospital Auxiliary and the Butler Junior Women's Club. She is also president of the board of St. Fidelis College and Seminary.
The Shewalters are members of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church.
