Kiser

Willis Allen Kiser, 82, of Butler died at 5:15 a.m. Sunday at his home after succumbing to multiple myeloma.

Born Feb. 26, 1926, on the family farm in Center Township, he was the son of Henry Braden and Norma Fern Shakley Kiser.

He was a member of the Faith United Presbyterian Church, the Moose Lodge 64, the American Legion Post 117 and the Sheffield VFW Post.

Mr. Kiser attended a one-room school house at Stoney Run and was a 1943 graduate of Butler High School. He attended Slippery Rock College for one year. He then was employed at West Penn Power, now Allegheny Power, as a supervising foreman.

Upon his retirement in 1988, he and his wife enjoyed traveling to visit their children and grandchildren across the United States, England, Scotland, Egypt and Singapore.

His lifelong interests included supporting the Steelers, being outdoors, hunting and fishing, and being at camp.

A true example of "the greatest generation," he enlisted in the Army Air Corps at the age of 17 and was stationed at Harlington, Texas.

Surviving are his wife, Marilyn Joan Brough Kiser, whom he married Feb. 11, 1949; a daughter, Mrs. James (Cathy) Cummiskey of Gaithersburg, Md.; and four sons, Thomas Kiser of Long Island, N.Y., Timothy Kiser of Philadelphia, Ronald Kiser and his wife, Sally, of Severna Park, Md., and Eric Kiser and his wife, Kim, of Long Beach, Calif. He was the loving grandfather of James and Christopher Cummiskey, Katie and Ryan Kiser and Max, Joanna and Samantha Kiser. Also surviving are six sisters, Velma Blain, Isabell Bacher, Mrs. Ronald (Cleo) Baxter, Mrs. Robert (Norma) Snodgrass, Viola Yartz and Mrs. Jacques (Carol) Book, all of Butler; and a brother, Paul Kiser and his wife, Irene, of West Sunbury.

He was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers.

<B>KISER</B> — A memorial service for Willis Allen Kiser, who died Sunday, June 15, 2008, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Faith United Presbyterian Church, 1329 N.
