Jean Barnhart, 82, of Butler died Friday at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Butler.

Born March 7, 1929, in Butler, she was a daughter of the late Joseph T. and Winifred A. (Burns) Lorenz.

She was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler, and had worked as a supervisor for admissions at the Butler Memorial Hospital for 31 years, retiring in 1991.

Jean was a member of the auxiliary at the VFW Post 249 and the American Legion 177, both in Butler.

She is survived by her son, Gerald R. Barnhart and his wife, Nanette, of Butler; one brother, James J. Lorenz of Mayer, Ariz.; two granddaughters, Erin M. Barnhart and Christianne Hilliard and her husband, Richard, all of Butler; one great-grandson, Tristan R. Hilliard of Butler; one great-granddaughter, Lauren Grace Hilliard of Butler; and one daughter-in-law, Mrs. David (Margaret Barnhart) Neigh of Butler.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard S. “Barney” Barnhart, Jr. who she married June 2, 1948, and who died Nov. 9, 1999; one son, Ronald L. Barnhart, who died in 1985; and four sisters.

<B>BARNHART</B> — Friends of Jean Barnhart, who died Friday, March 25, 2011, will be received at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday at 1 p.m. at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St., Butler.Interment will follow in Butler County Memorial Park.
