North volleyball rallies for 3-2 win in state semifinal
North Catholic's girls volleyball team was down, but not out.
The Trojanettes trailed Philipsburg-Osceola two sets to none Tuesday in a PIAA Class 2A semifinal playoff at Keystone High School.
But North battled back, taking the final three sets from the previously undefeated District 6 champion and advancing to Saturday's state championship by scores of 19-25, 29-31, 25-13, 25-23, 15-12.
“Our focus is always one point at a time,” said North coach Amanda Fetter. “Our kids didn't quit and I'm so proud of them.”
Ella Koziara, Sydnei Jones and Ally Feczko all had strong efforts, but Fetter said: “There wasn't one player for us who didn't leave everything on the court. That's all you can ask for.”
North lost to P-O in a state semifinal last year.
The Trojanettes (20-1), already with a WPIAL title in the bag, will look to add a state crown when they take on District 3 champ Trinity at 1 p.m. Saturday at Cumberland Valley High School in Mechanicsburg.
