Ronald Frank Wimer
Ronald Frank Wimer, 63, of Worth Township, Slippery Rock, died at 6:12 p.m. Tuesday at the Grove City Medical Center after a 1-year illness.
Born in New Castle, Nov. 26, 1945, he was the son of Glenn Wimer and Goldie Jervis.
He married Mary Ann Gursky on Sept. 15, 1973. She died Dec. 18, 1988.
Mr. Wimer had been self-employed and began his career at the Shaffer Home Decorating Center in Grove City. He later owned and operated the Slippery Rock Dairy Queen for 15 years from 1978 to 1993. In partnership with his son, Jeff, they bought a Dairy Queen in Sharpsville, which they owned and operated from 1995 until 2000. In 2001, they opened a Quizno's sub shop in Hermitage, which they operated for a 1Z\x years when Ron retired. Ron enjoyed working with people.
He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Grove City.
Surviving are a son and his wife, Jeffrey D. and Stacy Wimer of Slippery Rock; and a brother, Gary Wimer of Arkansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
<B>WIMER</B> — Visitation for Ronald Frank Wimer, who died Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009, will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the <B>Smith Funeral Home</B>, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Paul R. Milliken, pastor of the Grace United Methodist Church, Grove City, officiating. Interment will be in the Slippery Rock Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
