Steve Howryla
Steve "Race" Howryla, 82, of Zelienople died Tuesday at the Passavant Retirement and Health Center, Zelie-nople.
Born Dec. 23, 1923, in Lyndora, he was the son of Harry and Bessie Banza Howryla.
He was a World War II Army veteran and a Purple Heart recipient. He was a member of the Butler VFW Post 249 and the Lyndora American Legion Post 0778.
Mr. Howryla was a member of the St. Gregory Roman Catholic Church, Zelienople.
He owned and operated the Homeacre Garage for years before his retirement from Pullman Standard in 1981.
Surviving are his wife, Mildred Howryla, whom he married Dec. 29, 1953; three daughters, Mary Louise Fowler and Kathleen Frampton, both of Slippery Rock, and Judy Petrick of Butler; two sons, Robert Howryla of Reno, Nev., and David Howryla of Las Vegas, Nev.; three brothers, John, Harry Jr. and Mike Howryla, all of Butler; and two sisters, Ruby Miller and Julia Howryla, both of Butler.
He also is survived by four grandchildren, Conor Frampton, Austin and Kelsey Howryla and Ian Petrick.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Peter Howryla, and an infant sister.

Grandview Ave., Zelienople. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at the St. Gregory Catholic Church, Zelienople, with the Rev. Robert Miller, officiating.
