Mae Bauer was recently elected president of the Penn Township Women's Club.

Other officers include first vice president Catherine Williams, second vice president Sherri Manos, recording secretary Ruth Wood, co-recording secretary Nancy Swisher and treasurer Grace Weber.

This year, the club plans to continue and expand projects such as the spring fashion show and the Pennsylvania Association of Retarded Citizens party. They will also continue to sponsor the Nixon Socialites and the Golden Agers and give scholarships to Knoch High School seniors.

The club also plans to aid victims of recent flooding.

Bauer has been a member of the club since it was formed in 1958. The last active charter member of the club, she has served as first and second vice president, corresponding secretary and chairperson of the board of trustees. She also served and chaired numerous committees.

She was named clubwoman of the year for 1991-1992.

In addition to the women's club, she is a member of the Middlesex Presbyterian Church in America, where she has served as a deacon aid; the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 45; and the Butler Memorial Hospital Nurses Alumna.

She is a retired secretary, having worked for her husband, Donald Bauer, a former Penn Township tax collector. He is now deceased.

Bauer was also involved in the writing and publishing the history of Penn Township, entitled "Penn Panorama."

, both of Butler, tied for third place in the first heat of the Uncle Charley's Sausage Eating Contest held at Heinz Field on Oct. 10.

Each consumed seven sausage links in five minutes, qualifying both of them to participate in the grand championship competition on Nov. 7.
