Betty Lucinda Blakney

Betty Lucinda Blakney, 75, of Walk Chalk, Armstrong County, died Friday in the Kittanning Care Center.

Born Sept. 16, 1936, in East Franklin Township, Armstrong County, she was a daughter of the late Richard Claypoole and the late Daisy (Shaffer) Claypoole.

She worked at the A&P Market in Kittanning for 24 years. For the past 30-plus years, she was a devoted homemaker.

Mrs. Blakney was a lifelong member of the Worthington Baptist Church, where she helped numerous times with Vacation Bible School.

She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, being with her family, listening to hymns, attending church, watching the news and religious services, couponing and cooking for her family.

Surviving are her husband of 49 years, Ronald D. Blakney; two sons, Steven Blakney of Walk Chalk and Terry Blakney and his wife, Amy, of Erie; two grandsons, Aaron and Ryan Blakney of Erie; a brother, Larry Claypoole and his wife, Bonnie, of Jackson Center; and sisters, Connie Claypoole of Walk Chalk, Anna Mae Claypoole of Walk Chalk, and Bonnie Hepler and her husband, Larry, of Walk Chalk.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Richard “Bud” Claypoole; and sister, Linda Walls.

<B>BLAKNEY</B> — Friends of Betty Lucinda Blakney, who died Friday, Nov. 25, 2011, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at <B>SNYDER-CRISSMAN FUNERAL HOME </B>in Cowansville. Visitation also will be from 10 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Worthington Baptist Church. Her pastor, the Rev. Joseph Simpson, will officiate.
