Knoch stuns Moon in boys basketball tourney final

Jordan Shoop sank two free throws with eight seconds left and Knoch held off Moon, 56-54, in boys basketball action Saturday night.

The game was the championship tilt of the Moon Tip-Off Tournament and gave the Knights a measure of revenge against the team that defeated them in the WPIAL Class AAA title game lasat season.

Shoop scored 24 points for Knoch while Ryan Hollihan added 12. Dan Walsh paced Moon with 16.

Tournament MVP Ryan King scored 16 points and grabbed seven rebounds as Grove City won the 34th annual Kiser Classic. Ben Husband added 13 points and nine boards and received the Hustle Award.

Jordan Fee scored 15 points, added three assists and made the all-tournament team. Eagles sophomore Dan Kiel received the Most Promising Player Award. Darren Haynes scored 27 for Peabody and was named the tourney's outstanding player.
