George J. Frishkorn
George John Frishkorn Sr., 75, of Zelienople died Thursday at UPMC Passavant Hospital, McCandless Township.
Born April 12, 1934, in Gibsonia, he was the son of the late Samuel and Thelma Stevick Frishkorn.
He was a 1952 graduate of Evans City High School and earned his degree in accounting from Geneva College.
He was a Korean War era U.S. Army veteran, serving in atomic weapons assembly. He also enjoyed boxing while in the Army.
He had worked at Resolite and Halstead Industries in Zelienople and owned Butler Step Saver Kitchen Mart. He retired from Pittsburgh Bulk Mail Center in Warrendale.
He was a member of American Legion Post 474, Zelienople, and the Hungarian Club.
George enjoyed his annual Fourth of July party and being with his family. He and his family survived the loss of their home in the 1985 tornado. George was known as a giver and was quick with a joke.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Jane (Duffin) Frishkorn, who he married Oct. 25, 1958; five children, Mary Teresa "Terry" Wehr and her husband, Rick, of Zelienople, Julia Ann Fodor of Hazlet, N.J., George John Frishkorn Jr. and his wife, Debbie, of Evans City, Maura Jane Hensler and her husband, Mark, of Zelienople and Samuel Adam Frishkorn and his wife, Lisa, of Butler; 10 grandchildren, Liam and Bridget Fodor, Greg, Kaylyn, Shannon and Jared Frishkorn, Jacqueline and Jacob Hensler, Shane and Morgan Frishkorn; three sisters, Jackie Vee, Janet Richardson and Judy Kennedy; one brother, Joe Frishkorn; and one sister-in-law, Birdie Frishkorn.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Samuel and Gary Frishkorn, and his lifelong friend, Ed Morris.
