Monnie 60th anniversary
Edward and Ruth Monnie of Meridian will mark 60 years of marriage with an open house hosted by their children from 2 to 4 p.m. May 18 at the Brandywine Village clubhouse on Route 68 just past the farm show grounds.
Monnie married the former Ruth Stoops on May 21, 1959, at the Center Street Methodist Church in Cumberland, Md.
They have three children, Melissa (Jeff) Olen of Renfrew, Marcia (Russell) Connell of Slippery Rock and Mark (Anne Marie) Monnie of Renfrew.
They also have five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Monnie retired from Armco in 1997 after 39 years.
He enjoys gardening, genealogy and his shop.
Mrs. Monnie is a homemaker who volunteers for the Connoquenessing Meals on Wheels. She is a member of the Red Hat Society.
The Monnies are both active in the Friends of the Old Stone House. They enjoy RV travel and wintering near Lake Placid, Fla.
The Monnies are members of the Meridian Presbyterian Church, having held various offices, and Monnie is currently the financial secretary.
