James C. Corbett, former mayor of East Brady

James C. Corbett, 92, of Jefferson Manor Health Center in Brook-ville, formerly of East Brady, died Sunday in Brook-ville.

Born Oct. 16, 1914, in Coraopolis, he was the son of Clyde A. and Suzanna E. Wilson Corbett.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.

Mr. Corbett had been a welder in the hot mill maintenance department at Armco-Butler Works for 25 years. He also had been a truck driver for Standard Oil in Clarion, a dragline operator for the Rimersburg Coal Co. and owned a lawn mower repair and weld shop in East Brady.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church, East Brady.

He was a former member and past president of the East Brady Borough Council and a former mayor of East Brady.

He was a former member of the East Brady Volunteer Fire Company and a 55-year member of the F&AM Lodge 244 East Brady-Kittanning.

Surviving are two sons, James R. Corbett of East Brady and William C. Corbett of Butler; two grandchildren, Heidi Tartal of Charlotte, N.C., and William B. Corbett of Brandon, S.D.; and five great-grandchildren.

His wife, Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Nale Corbett, whom he married June 20, 1940, died Nov. 28, 2002. He also was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.

<B>CORBETT</B> — Friends of James C. Corbett, who died Sunday, May 27, 2007, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the <B>Charles B. Buechele Funeral Home</B>, 105 Fourth St., East Brady. Visitation also will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church, East Brady, where services will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Richard Russell, church pastor and the Rev. Charles Hildbold, pastor of the United Methodist Church of Vandergrift, officiating. Burial will be at the Clarion Cemetery.F&AM Lodge 244 will conduct services at 7 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 495, East Brady, PA 16028.
