A carnival with about a dozen rides popped up at the Clearview Mall on Monday, and on Sunday it will pack up and move as quickly as it arrived.

Penn Valley Shows brings its carnival to different events around Pennsylvania, and Alycia Benner, manager, said this is its first time in Butler County.

The End of Summer Carnival is somewhat of a slapdash event at the mall; Benner said the company’s usual venues include fairs and festivals.

“It's not typical for us, we usually do fireman's carnivals, county fairs,” Benner said. “We came from Dayton and are going to the Stoneboro fair. This is just a space to offer some fun to the area.”

The carnival opens at 5 p.m. on weekdays and at 4 p.m. Saturday. Benner said people can buy individual ride tickets or a wristband that includes unlimited rides for $25. The carnival offers a $5 discount to people who bring a same-day receipt from a store at the Clearview Mall.

With school starting this week for several districts in Butler County, Benner said attendance at the carnival has been staggered, but Saturday will probably be its busiest day.

“It's been good, I expect a lot more people on the weekend,” she said.
