Shoemaker 60th Anniversary
Donald and Amber Shoemaker, 612 Parker Road, Sarver, marked their 60th wedding anniversary Thursday.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic restrictions, friends and family are conducting a card shower and are encouraged to call the couple to help them celebrate the occasion.
Mr. Shoemaker and the former Amber Blair were married on April 23, 1960, in Waugh Methodist Church in Washington, D.C.
They are the parents of Donald Shoemaker of Fenelton, Daniel Shoemaker of Freeport and Valerie Shoemaker Shaw of Saxonburg.
The couple has four grandchildren, Wesley, Kylie, Garret and Carl, and one great-grandchild, Teigan.Mr. Shoemaker was a carpenter at Pullman Standard until the company closed and retired from Trinity. He also served four years in the aviation branch of the U.S. Navy and later retired from the Air National Guard with 20 years of service.Mrs. Shoemaker was a secretary for the federal government in Washington, D.C. She retired from Harmarville Rehab with 20 years of service after holding positions as an R.N. unit manager and R.N.A.C nurse.Both belong to Buffalo United Presbyterian Church in Sarver.
