Linus 'Bud' Blackwell
Linus Samuel "Bud" Blackwell, 83, of Portersville died Saturday at Concordia Lutheran Ministries in Cabot after an illness.
Born June 21, 1921, in Perry Township, Lawrence County, he was the son of Linus Cramblet Blackwell and Florence McGinnes Blackwell.
He graduated from Perry High School in Pittsburgh and was an alumnus of the University of Pittsburgh School of Engineering, Science and Management. He was a self-employed land surveyor, engineer and excavator and was involved in the St. Louis Arch and the Mackinaw, Mich., Bridge projects. Locally, he helped in the design and construction of Portersville Christian School.
Mr. Blackwell served as a first sergeant in the Army during World War II and belonged to the Butler VFW post. He also was a member of the Portersville Bible Church.
His wife, Doris, Blackwell, whom he married April 23, 1947, died Nov. 2, 2002.
Surviving are two daughters, Mary Beth and Sarah Blackwell, both of Portersville; a son, Linus Samuel Biackwell Jr. of Starke, Fla.; and a granddaughter.
BLACKWELL - Friends of Linus Samuel "Bud" Blackwell, who died Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday atJAY BRYAN FUNERAL HOME, 443 Main St. Prospect. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Portersville Bible Church with the Rev. Michael Charles officiating. Burial will be at Mountville Cemetery, Portersville.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Portersville Bible Church.
