Freeport Theatre proves: 'You Can't Take It with You'

Jon Haverstick and Sharon Riffer, portraying Ed and Essie Carmichael, pretend they are Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, sort of, in Freeport Theatre Festival's production of the comedy “You Can't Take It with You,” which opens Friday.

ALLEGHENY TOWNSHIP, Westmoreland County — Freeport Theatre Festival presents the comedy “You Can’t Take It with You” at 8 p.m. Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from Aug. 12 to 28.

The play relates the humorous encounter between the “straight-laced” Kirby family and the “eccentric and idiosyncratic” family of Grandpa Martin Vanderhof who are in wholehearted pursuit of happiness.

The show is at the Steele Farm on White Cloud Road, two miles south of Freeport off Route 356.
