Mary Chuba, 84, of Lyndora died Saturday afternoon at her home.

Born Feb. 4, 1923, in West Virginia, she was a daughter of Charles J. Sr. and Mary Hilovsky Ballon.

She was a homemaker and previously worked in the laundry department at the Butler Veterans Administration Hospital.

She was a member of St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church in Lyndora, where she was in the Ladies Guild of St. Fidelis. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, planting flowers and gardening.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Marlene Huff of Lyndora; three grandchildren, Donna Rock of Lyndora, John Huff of Prospect and Julie Huff of Wayne, N.J.; two great-grandchildren, Joshua Rock and Zane Huff; one brother, Thomas (Kim) Ballon of Butler; five sisters, Mrs. Margaret Rock and Karen Cihonski, both of Lyndora, Mrs. Richard (Dorothy) Fitzpatrick and Frances Sweesy and her husband, Dan Daurora, both of Butler, and Louise "Cookie" Michaels of South Carolina.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John J. Chuba, who she married Sept. 9, 1950. He died Nov. 25, 1991.

Also preceding her in death were her grandson, Carl Huff; two brothers, Charles "Jake" Ballon Jr. and Andrew Ballon; and three sisters, Ann Bronchak, Susan March and Rosemary Ballon.

<B>CHUBA</B> — Friends of Mary Chuba, who died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2008, will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church, 303 Penn Ave., Lyndora. The Rev. George Palick, pastor, will officiate. Entombment will follow in the Chapel of Devotion Mausoleum at Butler County Memorial Park Cemetery.The Bereavement Committee of St. Fidelis will meet at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home to recite the Rosary.
