Sell 100th birthday
Doris J. Sell of Concordia at the Orchard, 104 Concordia Way, celebrated her 100th birthday with a card shower because of pandemic-created limitations on visits. She was overwhelmed by the love and well wishes she received.
The former Doris Singer was born Jan. 6, 1921, in Freeport. She married Walter “Mike” Sell on June 5, 1942, and lived in Natrona Heights. In the early 1960s, they moved to their weekend retreat on a 34-acre farm in Cabot.
She loved living in the country where she and her husband enjoyed many years together working the land and raising horses, beef cattle and Boston bull terriers.
She has two sons, Walter Sell Jr. of Kittanning and Roger (Debbie) Sell of Cabot.
She also has two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She enjoys sewing, painting china and gardening. She is always willing to use her gifts and talents for those in need.
She loved to bring people together, be it for a Bible study or a dinner party.
Before she decided to slow down, she was an active member of Zion United Methodist Church, Eastern Star, Young Life of Natrona Heights and the Saxonburg District Woman’s Club.
She also enjoyed traveling the world, visiting Spain, England, Curacao and Morocco.
She enjoys being “Three Numbers,” and her advice for living 100 years is to “just be yourself.”
