Loverick adds 300 game to his ace
Phil Loverick Jr. had found perfection on the golf course by nailing a hole-in-one, but it was perfection on the bowling lanes that had eluded him.
Not anymore.
Loverick recorded his first 300 game during Armco C League play March 18 at Sherwood Lanes. The 300 game was sandwiched between games of 190 and 205.
Loverick joins his brother, Greg, who has eight perfectos, and father, Phil, who has two. He almost repeated his feat in the Armco C League Thursday by rolling a 299 game.
The elder Loverick has recorded a pair of 300 games and a couple of holes-in-one as well.

Weber notches 35th title
Pete Weber won his 35th Professional Bowlers Association title Sunday, capturing the PBA Marathon Open in Baltimore. Weber defeated Mike Scroggins 268-224 in the title match. Weber defeated Brad Angelo 233-212 to head to the finals. Angelo had dispatched Chris Barnes (256-227) and Wes Malott (207-192) in the day's first two matches.
Weber now stands alone in third place on the all-time PBA title list, breaking a tie at 34 with Mark Roth. Only Earl Anthony and Walter Ray Williams Jr. have more titles.
PBA notes
The Marathon Open marked the end of the PBA regular season. ESPN will televise the finals of the PBA Men's Showdown and the Women's Showdown at 1 p.m. on the next two Sundays. ... The loss to Weber was especially costly for Scroggins. Had Scroggins won, he would have passed Williams on the PBA Player of the Year points list, but Williams earned the title.
