Donald C. Kiser

Donald C. Kiser, 73, of Harmar Township died Monday morning at his home.

Born Sept. 15, 1933, in New Kensington, he was the son of Carl and Ruth Kemper Kiser.

He served in the Navy during the Korean War, and he retired in 1991 from Bell Telephone as a telephone repairman.

Mr. Kiser belonged to the 11th Pennsylvania Calvary Civil War Re-enactment group, the F&AM Verona Lodge 548 and the Syria Temple. He also was a member of the Pioneers of America, the West Deer Township American Legion and the Rosedale Sportsmen's Club, where he instructed firearms. He also was a scuba instructor for years.

He was on the Harmar Township Planning Board for eight years and belonged to the Harmar Township Volunteer Fire Department and the Lower Valley Ambulance Service, serving as an EMT.

Surviving are his wife of 18 years, Barbara Tarasi Kiser; his children, Dr. Donald R. Kiser of Parkersburg, W.Va., Shawn R. Kiser of Butler and Carl I. Kiser of Bordeaux, France; stepchildren, Karen Thomas of Greensburg, Dean Zanella of Everett, Bedford County, and Annette Bertoline of Export, Westmoreland County; and a sister, Marilyn Galcik of Prospect.

Also surviving are 11 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Lois Galwach.

<B>KISER</B> — Friends of Donald C. Kiser, who died Monday, Jan. 8, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. today at the <B>Burket-Truby Funeral Home Cremation & Alternative Services</B>, 421 Allegheny Ave., Oakmont.Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Riverside Community Church, Oakmont, with the Rev. Harold Mele officiating.Burial will be private.Memorial donations may be made to the Relay For Life, Oakmont Chapter, c/o Judie Beynon, 1129 Pennsylvania Ave., Oakmont, PA 15139.
