2 pageants on tap at BC3
The 23rd Miss Butler County America and the 10th Miss Moraine State America pageants will begin at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 11 at the Succop Theater.
The pageant will be emceed by Heather Pate, the 2005 Miss Butler County; and Darcie Bell, 2005 Miss Moraine State.
Annie Rosellini, the 2005 Pennsylvania Outstanding Teen, will also make an appearance.
Contestants will be judged in the categories of interview, casual wear, swimsuit, talent, evening gown and onstage questions.
First-place winners will receive a $1,000 scholarship and entry into the state pageant. First runner-up for each title will receive a $400 scholarship, second runner-up will receive a $200 award and third runner-up will receive $100.
First-place winners will proceed to the Miss Pennsylvania America pageant in June in Allentown.
The event is directed by Lee Garrard, Judy Hughes and Lucy Mudrick.
This year's contestants, who range from 17 to 24 years old, include:
<b>Brittany Angert</b> is a senior at Karns City High School. She plans to major in nursing at the University of Pittsburgh. She will do a vocal performance of "There You'll Be." She is the daughter of Daniel and Debbie Angert of Petrolia.<b>Lauren DiMaria</b>attends Allegheny College, where she majors in communication arts. Lauren will do a hip-hop dance to "Music Makes Me Lose Control." She is the daughter of Louis and Marlene DiMaria of Cranberry Township.<b>Ashley Duespohl</b> is a senior at Butler High School and plans to study physical therapy at Duquesne University. She will play the first movement of Beethoven's "Sonata Pathetique" on the piano. She is the daughter of Tom and Colleen Duespohl of Butler.<b>Shawna Hart</b> is a senior at Slippery Rock High School and plans to become a doctor. She will do a dance twirl to "Chorus Line." She is the daughter of Donald Hart of Syvannah, Wash., and Cheryl Cranmer of Slippery Rock.
<b>Danielle Hillwig</b> is a senior at Karns City High School. She plans to attend Thiel College, where she will study to become a science teacher. She will do a vocal selection of "How Could I Ever Know." She is the daughter of Boyd and Shirley Hillwig of Chicora.<b>Maggie McClaine</b> is a student at Slippery Rock University, where she is majoring in elementary education and communications. She will do a tap dance to "Burning Love." She is the daughter of Edward McClaine of Chicora and Diane Lang of East Brady.<b>Alycia McCullough</b> is a student at Slippery Rock University, where she studies elementary education. She will do a dance performance to "Phantom of the Opera." She is the daughter of Greg and Darby McCullough of Cochranton.<b>Taylor McLaughlin</b> is a senior at Butler High School. She plans to study dance at Point Park University. She will do a dance performance to "A New Life." Taylor is the daughter of John and Marguerite McLaughlin of Butler.
<b>Kayla Molczan</b> is a senior at Butler High School. She plans to study broadcasting at Point Park University. Kayla will do a tap dance to "I've Got Rhythm." She is the daughter of Jeff and Terri Molczan of Butler.<b>Jo Marie Rankin</b> studies music education at Clarion (Pa.) University, where she is a freshman. She will play "Tennessee Waltz" and "Orange Blossom Special" on the fiddle. She is the daughter of Gary and Sheila Rankin of Butler.<b>Katie Spohn</b> attends Butler County Community College, where she is studying pre-law. She will sing "Mia Vida Loca." She is the daughter of Fred and Nora Spohn of Butler.
<b>Gina Cerilli</b> is a sophomore at Philadelphia University, where she is studying fashion merchandising. She will do a jazz dance to "Grease Medley." She is the daughter of Gregory and Lorraine Cerilli of Greensburg.<b>Natosha Durr</b> is a senior at Everett High School. She plans to attend California (Pa.) University, where she will major in athletic administration. Natosha will sing "These Boots are Made for Walking." She is the daughter of Walter and Renee Durr of New Paris.
<b>Lucy Hazelet</b> is a junior at Indiana (Pa.) University, where she majors in psychology. She will do a piano performance of "Le Papillon." She is the daughter of Theodore and Paula Hazelet of Saegertown.<b>Melanie Hildebrant</b> is an English major at Bernard of Columbia University. She will do a vocal performance of "I'm Changing." She is the daughter of George and Karen Hildebrant of Nazareth.<b>Kerriann Kada</b> attends Carnegie Mellon University, where she majors in vocal performance. She will sing "And This is My Beloved." She is the daughter of Steven and Colleen Kada of Pittsburgh.<b>Jenna Knapsnyder</b> is a senior at the Pennsylvania Cyber School. She will sing "Don't Rain on My Parade." Jenna is the daughter of Clarence and Amy Knapsnyder of Somerset.
<b>Crystal Lynam</b> is a junior at Grove City College, where she is majoring in marketing management. She will play "Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee" on the piano. She is the daughter of Eric and Laura Lynam of Keyser.<b>Megan Wasson</b> is a junior at Penn State University, where she is studying pre-medicine. She will do a tap dance to "This Cat's on a Hot Tin Roof." She is the daughter of Deborah Wasson of Conneautville.<b>Megan Wombacker</b> is a sophomore at Kent State University, where she is majoring in business administration. She will do a dance performance to "Two Worlds." She is the daughter of Carl and Cindy Wombacker of Hermitage.
