Thelma Arbuckle Huff
Thelma Arbuckle Huff, 92, of Jackson Center, formerly of Butler, passed away peacefully at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the Community Living Center of the VA Butler Healthcare after an extended illness.
Thelma was born Jan. 14, 1923, in Yatesboro, Pa., Armstrong County, to John B. and Verda C. Holler Arbuckle.
She was a 1941 graduate of Cowanshannock High School in Rural Valley, Armstrong County. In 1945, she graduated from the Citizen's Hospital School of Nursing in New Kensington.
Thelma was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and had served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps.
After the war, she had worked as a registered nurse at the VA Butler Healthcare Hospital.
Most of all she was a homemaker and loved to keep house, grow flowers and work in the garden.
She was a member of the Oak Hills Christian Church, Butler.
She leaves behind her companion and best friend of 24 years, H. Joe Reddick at home; four grandchildren, Jason L. Huff, Carrie J. Huff, Cory l. Dittman and Cal L. Dittman; and eight great-grandchildren, all of Butler.
She also is survived by her sister, Marlene Wilson and her husband, Jim of Rural Valley; two brothers, John “Jack” Arbuckle and his wife, Ann, of Rural Valley and Dale Arbuckle and his wife, Eleanor, of Indiana, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Leo R. Huff, who died in 1986, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Darcee L. Huff-Cypher; her son, Richard R. Huff; her sister, June McKain; and her brother, Blair Arbuckle.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
HUFF — Per the wishes of Thelma Arbuckle Huff, who died Sunday, Oct. 18, 2015, there will be no calling hours or service. Entombment will take place at the Crestview Memorial Park, Grove City.Arrangements are bing handled by the Scott A. Black Funeral Home, 99 Franklin St., Stoneboro, Pa.
