James E. Shipley, 78, of Saxonburg passed away Friday at Good Samaritan Hospice, Cabot.

Born Dec. 16, 1932, in Connellsville, he was the son of Charles F. Shipley Sr. and Mabel A. (Poorbaugh) Shipley.

He worked for Shindler Elevator as a mechanic and later as an installer.

He was a member of the Cabot United Methodist Church, the Tri-State Music Association, the Masonic Lodge 694, the Order of Eastern Star Butler Lodge 45, Butler Caravan 14, the Scottish Rite of New Castle, the Pittsburgh Shrine and the Moose Lodge 64. James was a life member of the Tanglewood Center.

He enjoyed camping, dancing and hunting.

Surviving are his loving wife, M. Gladys Bauer-Shipley, who he married Sept. 2, 1994; his son, James (Mary Ann) Shipley of Baden; his grandsons, James G. (Cortney) Shipley, Tyler Hays and Jake Hays; his loving devoted second family: his son, Joseph (Bonnie) Andring of Butler and his daughters, Joyce E. (Ron) Callen of Saxonburg, Alice F. Kelley of Butler, and Karen S. (Rick) Kelley of Marwood; his sister, Gail Eicher of North Lima, Ohio; nine grandchildren, Christle Critchlow, Ron Callen, Melissa Andring, Jeffrey Andring, Paul Kelley, Kim Lawrence, Dawn Alter, Amanda Kelley, and Rob Kelley; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Edith Meyer in 1989; his daughter, Michele Hays in 2001; four brothers, Mick, Jack, Charles and Frank Shipley; and one sister, Sara Jane Maust.

<B>SHIPLEY</B> — Friends of James E. Shipley, who died Friday, July 29, 2011, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at <B>Fox Funeral Home</B>, 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg. Additional visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home where services will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Matthew Judd officiating. Interment will follow in the Summit United Presbyterian Church Cemetery.Memorial donations may be made to the Cabot United Methodist Church, 707 Winfield Road, Cabot, PA 16023 or to Good Samaritan Hospice, 134 Marwood Road, Cabot, PA 16023.Information also is available at www.foxfuneralhomeinc.com.
