Monday — Police filed drunken driving charges against Wendi D. Madden, 43, of Grove City stemming from a traffic stop at 12:46 a.m. Aug. 10 on New Castle Road. Madden also is charged with running a flashing red light and careless driving.5:51 p.m. Sunday — Mark L. McKean, 41, of Butler was arrested after a reported domestic dispute at a home on Preston Drive. McKean is accused of punching a glass door during the altercation. He was arraigned on charges of simple assault, harassment and public drunkenness, and placed in Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail.12:41 p.m. Saturday — James J. Tiani, 55, of Butler allegedly walked out of the Rock Ann Haven bar on Greenwood Drive without paying for his bill. Police cited Tiani for theft of services.9:32 a.m. Thursday — Joseph Pierrel, 73, of Butler was hurt when a vehicle rear-ended his vehicle on New Castle Road at Alameda Park Road. Pierrel needed medical treatment for neck and back pain. The other driver, Jonathan Fleske, 20, of Butler, was cited for driving at an unsafe speed.1:44 p.m. Aug. 19 — A car driven by Arthur Davis IV, 25, of Butler rear-ended another vehicle that was stopped at a red light on Route 8 at Hansen Avenue. Police cited Davis for driving at an unsafe speed. Robert Shick, 66, of Butler was the other driver.

Aug. 16 — Four people were arrested for driving under the influence during recent roving DUI patrol operation in the southern part of the county. Officers stopped 84 vehicles. In addition to the DUI arrests, six people were cited for underage drinking. Additionally, officers arrested one person on a felony warrant, handed out 45 traffic tickets and issued 60 warnings.

2 p.m. Sunday — Conrad W. Claycomb Jr., 42, of Butler was arrested following an altercation with a 37-year-old woman at a home on Hall Road in Clay Township. Claycomb “trapped” the woman inside a bedroom and “would not allow her to leave.” The woman, who police did not identify, was not injured. Claycomb was arraigned on charges of unlawful restraint, simple assault and disorderly conduct, and placed in Butler County Prison on $1,500 bail.4:15 p.m. Aug. 19 — One person was hurt in a two-vehicle wreck in Zelienople. The crash happened when a car driven by Vanessa J. Somerville, 20, of Pittsburgh and a pickup truck driven by John J. Gray, 44, of Butler collided at Route 68 and South Clay Street. Somerville, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to UPMC Passavant Cranberry with minor injuries. Somerville was cited for making an improper left turn.

Monday — A vehicle was stolen from the driveway of a home in the 100 block of Mahoning Road in Templeton. The owner, a 47-year-old man, acknowledged that the vehicle, which police did not identify, was unlocked and the keys were inside.Moments before that theft, which occurred between 12:01 and 3 a.m., about $10 in change was taken from a different vehicle that was at the same home.Aug. 14 — A vandal opened an unlocked valve to a PennDOT tanker trailer, releasing 4,500 gallons of road tar onto the ground in Washington Township, Armstrong County. The tar-and-chip substance was spilled at the intersection of Reesedale and Adrian/Sherrett roads between 4 p.m. Aug. 13 and 6:30 a.m. Aug. 14. The damage and loss was estimated at $7,875.
