Dennis P. Scherer, 24, of Chicora died at 4:56 a.m. Wednesday at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, of injuries received in an automobile accident at 11:10 p.m. Tuesday on Clearfield Road in Clearfield Township.

Born in Butler, Oct. 11, 1981, he was the son of Herman W. "Chic" and Donna Price Scherer.

He worked out of the Sheet Metal Workers Local Union 12 in Harmarville, where he did commercial ductwork and fabrication.

Mr. Scherer was a member of the Mater Dolorosa Roman Catholic Church, Chicora.

He also belonged to the, Chicora Moose Lodge and was an avid golfer and a NASCAR enthusiast.

Surviving are his parents of Chicora; three brothers, Herm Scherer of Ford City, Donald Scherer of East Brady and Vaughn Scherer of Chicora; his paternal grandmother, Evelyn Scherer of Chicora; a great-aunt; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

<B>SCHERER </B>— Friends of Dennis P. Scherer, who died Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2006, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the <B>STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME</B>, 111 E. Slippery Rock St., Chicora. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Mater Dolorosa Roman Catholic Church, 409 N. Main St., Chicora, with the Rev. David D. DeWitt officiating. Burial will be at the Hemphill Cemetery, Chicora.
