Undying Love

Today has come for Birthday Wishes, Mom, from the very deepest in our hearts. We're thankful that if you had to go at least now you have been reunited with Dad. Your hearts, like from the day you first met, are together for all time.

We are always reminded of 10 years back when the day before your birthday, the love of your life collapsed. He lost his life before you, and by the grace of God was brought back twice en route to the hospital late that night.

His thoughts were not of himself, but of his undying love for you. He was afraid he'd miss your birthday, so he sent a nurse to the gift shop before you woke the next morning to buy you a single red rose adorned with baby's breath. He signed the card, "To My Sweetie", "From Your Always Lover Boy" . . . "Billie".

His only thoughts were to bring you joy. Such a beautiful love should never be forgotten. For twelve long days that beautiful rose bloomed as if it were freshly picked. You placed it on a stand near his bedside so he could be reminded of you. Then one day Dad took that fatal turn and slowly everything changed. We lost him that twelfth night. He whispered that he saw angels . . . they were singing. As he held your hand he slowly said, "I Love You." As a tear fell from his eyes the Angels carried him away.

We all gathered around his bedside and sang his most favorite hymns . . . in hopes he would hear them as the gates of heaven opened to bring him in. As we all turned to leave, someone noticed your beautiful red rose was suddenly brown, it had bowed its head and dried. We are still in awe of that rose. How many cut roses live like a fresh bloom for 12 days and die the moment your one true love is taken from you.

You Mom, were his one true love. His soft place to fall when he was happy . . . and his strength when he could not stand alone, Just as you were for all of us.

You are so sadly missed.
