My Dearest Son Glenny
On August 15, 1957, a beautiful little boy was born to Daddy and me. We didn’t realize that God had given us a special angel. At first we didn’t know you had a birth injury. When you tried to walk something wasn’t right. With special doctors and tests it was determined but not how severe. From the time you walked it was special shoes, body braces, twenty five operations, and wheelchairs.
Through all the years you never lost your great personality and smile. There was something extraordinary about you. You were a great patient. We bought a handicapped van and tried to give you as normal life as possible. You a a kick out of everything. Even when you upset your wheelchair, when Crissy and Tina took you Halloweening at the mall as Dolly Parton.
But most of all, your love of Jesus and Blessed Mary and going to Mass. Father Harry was a great inspiration.
Your life expectancy was 15-25 years. I had you 47 years. I’m glad I had you for five years after Dad went to heaven. I know we had an earth angel because good things happened here to those who knew you and no real explanation could be given. We soon realized your prayers, faith in God was the answer.
I was heartbroken but I held you so peacefully and I know Jesus said Son, your work on earth is finished, I’m taking you home.
So have a Blessed Happy Birthday with Dad, Jesus, the angels and most of all our families. Time is flying and we’ll soon all be together. What a happy reunion that will be. Give Dad a kiss and hug for me. You are greatly loved and sadly missed. Pray for us down here.
