Charles and Annabelle Bistransin of Butler celebrated 50 years of marriage recently with a surprise party at Natili's Restaurant.

The former Annabelle Mellish married Bistransin on Aug. 13, 1955, at St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Church in Lyndora.

They have three children, David Bistransin of Sharon, Kathleen Young of Sharpsburg and Joni Hortert of Butler.

They also have six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Bistransin is retired from AK Steel. He is a member of the VFW and the American Legion.

Mrs. Bistransin is retired from the office of Dr. Prem Kumar. She is a volunteer at Butler Memorial Hospital and enjoys bowling and swimming.

The couple belongs to St. John Byzantine Catholic Church in Lyndora. They enjoy traveling.
