Baseball• In Class AA, Karns City (8-6) will host Brockway (4-9) at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.• In Class A, Union (7-7) will travel to Keystone (7-6) for a 4:30 p.m. game Tuesday.A-C Valley (7-7) will visit Clarion-Limestone (7-5) at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Softball• In Class AA, Moniteau (12-2) received a first-round bye and will host the winner of Monday's game between Redbank Valley (7-8) and Brookville (6-9) at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.Karns City (9-5) will host Cranberry (6-9) at 4:30 p.m. Monday.• In Class A play, A-C Valley (7-7) will battle host Clarion (11-3) at 4:30 p.m. Monday.
JACKSON TWP — The Seneca Valley softball team (13-5), which received a bye in the first round of the WPIAL Quad A playoffs, will face Kiski Area at 5 p.m. Monday at North Allegheny High School.The Cavaliers (13-4) defeated Hempfield, 5-2, in the first round.
BUTLER TWP — The Butler boys lacrosse team will host a playoff game for the first time in its history at 6 p.m. today when it takes on Erie McDowell at the intermediate high school field.
NEW YORK — Mark Myers, son of Slippery Rock High graduates Richard Myers and his ex-wife Marla, has signed a free-agent contract with the NFL's New York Jets.Myers also is a nephew of Saxonburg resident Sue Haggerty.A kicker, Myers has played three games in the Canadian Football League and was the kicker for Florida Atlantic University's first football team. He connected on 43 of 59 field goal attempts at FAU.Current Jets kicker Mike Nugent hit 27 of 33 field goal attempts last season.
SLIPPERY ROCK— Slippery Rock University sophomore utility baseball player Matt Adams was named first-team all-North Atlantic Region in voting by the region's NCAADivision IIsports information directors.Adams led The Rock with a .438 batting average, nine home runs and 44 RBI. His batting average tied for sixth-best in SRUhistory.
