Arthur “Punch” A. Boofer
Arthur “Punch” A. Boofer, 75, of West Sunbury went to his heavenly home Tuesday afternoon at the Clarview Nursing Home in Sligo following an extended illness.
Arthur was born March 11, 1941, in Petrolia. He was the son of William H. and Aletha Earley Boofer.
He had been employed at Hoffman Auto Parts, owned and operated his own auto body shop, and also was a landscaper for several families in the West Sunbury area.
Arthur was Protestant. He enjoyed old cars and attending car shows, flea markets and auctions.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Hoffman Boofer, who he married Jan. 24, 1959, in Mercer.
Also surviving is his daughter, Barbara Boofer Witherup of Sharpsville; his daughter-in-law, Christie Boofer of Mercer; his grandson, Chad Boofer, and his wife, Stephanie, of New Castle; two granddaughters, Christina and Stephanie Stiffy; three great-grandchildren, Colten, Izabella and Lamar Boofer, of New Castle; two sisters, Doris Smell of Hermitage and Linda Claypoole of Slippery Rock; his special friend, Robert Milbert; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Larry, who died in 1984; his grandson, Bobby, who died in 1978; two brothers, John and Ben Boofer; and three sisters, Jane Spiker, Pearl Claypoole and Peggy Bowser.
BOOFER — Friends of Arthur “Punch” A. Boofer, who died Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2017, will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from noon to 1 p.m. Friday at the Hile Funeral Home of Karns City, 128 Main St., Karns City, where a funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. with the Rev.
