Virginia and Donald Shirey

Donald and Virginia Shirey of Sarver celebrated 60 years of marriage with a Gateway Clipper dinner cruise on Saturday.

Shirey married the former Virginia Ann Roenigk on July 21, 1962, at Buffalo Presbyterian Church, Sarver.

They have three children, Gina Leigh Shirey of Juneau, Alaska; Jonathan William Shirey of Loveland, Ohio; and JoAnna Jane Halenda of Mars. They have nine grandchildren.

Mr. Shirey is retired from the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Information Science, where he was an associate professor.

He is a member of Freeport Meals on Wheels.

Mrs. Shirey is a retired Knoch School District teacher.

She is a member of the Pa. Association of School Retirees.

The Shireys are members of Buffalo Presbyterian Church.
