Leonard Brittner

Leonard J. Brittner, 80, of Jackson Township died Friday at UPMC Passavant in McCandless Township.

Born Dec. 3, 1927, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of John and Flora Rech Brittner.

A veteran of the Army, Mr. Brittner served in World War II and the Korean War.

He was a member of the H.E.T. Automobile Club and enjoyed building stained glass lamp shades and windows. He also built pianos and a nickelodeon.

An avid gardener, he enjoyed feeding the birds and squirrels.

Surviving are two daughters, Susan Kline and her husband, Kenneth, and Karen Ruby and her husband, John, all of Harmony; and four sons, Ken F. Fleet and his wife, Claudia, of Sandy Lake, Leonard M. Brittner and his wife, Linda, of Zelienople, Thomas W. Brittner and his wife, Terry, of Butler and Fred S. Brittner and his wife, Linda, of Emlenton

Also surviving are three sisters, Edna Vidt and her husband, Warren, of Cranberry Township, Janet Murphy and her companion, Ray Rava, of Ellwood City, and Carol Karmann and her husband, Bob, of Canonsburg; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Brittner was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred M. Bittner, who died March 15, 1995.

Funeral services with military honors were held at 10 a.m. today at the funeral home with the Rev. Peter J. Everett, Sr. of Grace Church of Harmony officiating.
