JEFFERSON TWP — A boy was not seriously injured when a car hit him while he was riding a bicycle on Fisher Road Thursday afternoon.

Chief Chris Ballina of the Saxonburg Volunteer Fire Company said the boy, whom he estimated to be 9 or 10 years old, sustained some cuts.

Ballina said the boy, whose name was unavailable, got up and ran over to check on his bicycle.

“He was worried about his bike,” Ballina said.

He said the boy’s mother made him lay down until emergency crews arrived.

The accident was reported at 3:04 p.m.

Saxonburg Ambulance took the boy to Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC.

Ballina said the car came upon a hump in the road where there is a blind spot before the impact.
