3:29 p.m. Monday — Robert Peters, 56, of Butler was arrested for driving under the influence after his car rear-ended another car at West Penn and North Washington streets. Stephen Sheptak, 33, of Butler, the other driver, suffered minor injuries.
Thursday<B><I> </B></I>— Police charged Colby Nicholas, 22, of Butler with driving under the influence stemming from a one-vehicle crash earlier this week.Nicholas and Brandon Geist, 22, of Butler, a passenger, were injured when the defendant lost control of his car and struck a utility pole along Portman Road. Nicholas remains in Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, while Geist was treated at Butler Memorial Hospital and released.In addition to DUI, Nicholas is charged with reckless endangerment, driving too fast for conditions, careless driving, reckless driving, and driving with worn tires.
5:52 p.m. Thursday — Acar driven byAdel Fergany, 57, of Monroeville, Allegheny County, crashed into an embankment on Interstate 79 in Muddy Creek Township.4:50 p.m. Thursday — Apickup truck driven by Jeffrey Paszek, 40, no address given, and a minivan driven by Corey Johns, 30, no address given, collided at Route 8 and Denny Road in Middlesex Township. Police said Paszek was cited for illegally entering a road.3:43 p.m. Thursday — No one was injured in a four-vehicle, chain-reaction accident at Route 268 near Hooker Road in Karns City.Police said the crash occurred when a car driven by Nathan S. Moser, 19, of Parker struck the rear of a sport utility vehicle driven by Karen Perry, 36, of Bruin. The collision pushed Perry's vehicle into the rear of a pickup driven by Brandon Deal, 22, of Petrolia, which in turn pushed Deal's vehicle into the rear of a car driven by Gary Piper II, 33, of Bruin.9:15 a.m. Thursday — Acar driven by Gary Reges Jr., 31, of Butler struck the rear of a trailer being pulled by a pickup at Routes 8 and 108 in Slippery Rock Township. Richard Roberts, 42, of Mercer was driving the pickup.Wednesday — An unknown thief between 4 and 7:55 p.m. stole a Butler woman's purse at the Eat 'n Park restaurant at Clearview Mall in Center Township.Sunday — Charges are pending against a 29-year-old Worthington, Armstrong County man suspected of stealing several firearms from the Park Lane home of James Bureau in Clearfield Township. The theft occurred between Nov. 25 and Sunday.Police said the suspect, who they did not identify, later sold the guns at a local gun store and used the money to buy heroin.
