John Bojarski is a new reporter for the Butler Eagle who will cover the Slippery Rock area of Butler County.
He is a 2010 graduate of Duquesne University with a degree in journalism.
He recently moved to Butler.
Bojarski replaces Craig Keener, who moved to Anchorage, Alaska.
CRANBERRY TWP — Tom Geer was hired as vice president of fuel engineering for Westinghouse Electric's nuclear fuel business.Geer comes to Westinghouse from Duke Energy, where he was vice president of nuclear engineering. There he was a member of the Electric Power Research Institute Fuel Reliability Program's Executive Committee and the Florida Power & Light Co. Turkey Point corporate nuclear review board, chaired the Texas A&M Nuclear Engineering Advisory Council and served on the University of Tennessee Nuclear Engineering Department advisory board.Geer has a bachelor's and a master's in nuclear engineering from Texas A&M, and is a certified professional engineer in North and South Carolina.
BUTLER TWP — Lifesteps of Butler County opened a new playground Sept. 2 at its Early Education Center.Renovations to the playground helped make the play area safer for children and will help children improve their gross motor, fine motor, social, mathematic, scientific and reasoning skills. It also allows for interaction between children with and without special needs.
The Accreditation Committee of the College of American Pathologists accredited Butler Memorial Hospital's laboratory.This certification is based on inspections, lab records and quality control.
