Robert J. Mennor
Robert J. Mennor, 75, of 208 E. Beaver St., Mercer, died Wednesday at United Community Hospital, Grove City.
Born July 29, 1929, in Donegal Township, he was a son of George and Marie Hohn Mennor.
He lived for years in Chicora and Franklin before moving to Mercer in the early 1970s.
He was an over-the-road truck driver with Pittsburgh-Philadelphia Carriers, Werner Continental and Halls Motor Transit, retiring in 1987 with 32 years of safe driving service.
Mr. Mennor was a member of Teamsters 261 and a 50-year member of the Moose Lodge in Chicora and Mercer. He also belonged to the V.F.W. Wilbur Rhodes Post and the American Legion in Mercer.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed over 30 years of annual fishing trips to Canada. Mr. Mennor was a skilled woodworker and provided his family and friends with many handcrafted items.
He will be fondly remembered by family, friends and neighbors for his wonderful gardening and his liberal use of Miracle-Gro.
He was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church.
On May 23, 1975, he married Judith Monroe and she survives.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by six children, Patricia Snyder of Maumelle, Ariz., Roberta Champion and her husband, Mike, of Canton, Ga., Jeanne Xander of Oil City, Mark Mennor and his wife, Yvonne of Burghill, Ohio, Tim Mennor and his wife, Nena of Ingleside, Texas, and Tracey Urey and her husband Dan of Mercer.
He also is survived by 10 grandchildren, Kelly Forbes of Portland, Ore., Jessica Snyder of Maumelle, Ariz., Katie and Melinda Mennor of Burghill, Ohio, Juanita Mennor of Ingleside, Texas, Samantha Scott and Sidney Urey of Mercer, Kyle and Chloe Champion of Canton, Ga. and Drew Xander of Oil City.
He is survived by two brothers, George Mennor of Colonia, N.J., and Alvin Mennor and his wife, Doll, of Fenelton; and a sister, Mary Bandura and her husband, Tom, of Butler.
Also surviving are a brother-in-law, Homer Boltz of East Brady; a sister-in-law, Eileen Mennor of Chicora; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Buzz and Linda Monroe of Polk; mother-in-law, Loma Gilliland of Polk; and former wife, Delores Wise Radaker of Dubois; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, John Leslie; brothers, John, Paul, Ken, Dick and William Mennor, and a sister, Florence Boltz.
MENNOR - Friends of Robert J. Mennor, who died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2004, will be received from 1 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday atCUNNINGHAM'S OF MERCER. A wake service will be held at 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, with the Fr. James Kennelley, priest of the church, officiating. Burial will be in the Melat Cemetery, Kennerdell.
