12:29 a.m. Sunday — Matthew Miller, 24, of Butler was charged with driving under the influence after being stopped for driving over a fog line a number of times on Whitestown Road, then jumping a curb while turning onto South Eberhardt Road.8:25 p.m. Friday — Dennis Hartle, 49, of Butler was arrested in the city for a protection from abuse violation that occurred in front of 1st Nails at the Point Plaza shopping center. He was arraigned on a charge of indirect criminal contempt, and placed in the Butler County Prison in lieu of $4,000 bond.
9:15 p.m. Monday — Cars driven by Shelby McCandless, 48, of Slippery Rock and Daylynn Large, 54, of Butler collided on Route 8 near McCandless Road in Center Township. Large, who was wearing a seat belt, was treated for minor injuries at Butler Memorial Hospital.Police, meanwhile, learned that McCandless was wanted by authorities in Broward County, Florida, for a probation violation. He remains in the Butler County Prison pending extradition proceedings.5:40 p.m. Monday — Two Armstrong County teenagers were arrested for allegedly shoplifting several shirts at the JCPenney store in the Clearview Mall in Center Township.Charged with retail theft in the case are Tashna Johns, 18, of Ford City and Nikki McCoy, 18, of Kittanning.Monday — A red, 1998 Dodge Dakota pickup truck was reported stolen sometime Sunday or Monday from the driveway of the Bonniebrook Road home of Dale Schiebel in Summit Township. The key was in the ignition when the pickup was taken.Monday — Police recovered a 1999 International truck that has been stolen late Friday or early Saturday from Mark Thomas Trucking on New Castle Road in Franklin Township.Monday — Two tires between 12:30 and 4 a.m. were punctured on a vehicle owned by Justin Ealy while parked at his Kiester Road home.10:45 p.m. Sunday — Terry Shields, 33, of Chicora was injured when he lost control of his truck on Route 38 in Oakland Township, hit an embankment and rolled onto the driver's side on the road. Shields was flown to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. The hospital wouldn't release his condition Monday.4 p.m. Sunday — Sean Roberts, 24, of Meadville, Crawford County was driving north on Interstate 79 in Lancaster Township when his left rear tire suddenly went flat, causing him to hit a guardrail.He was not injured.2:45 p.m. Friday — A van driven by Eva Lowerre, 38, of Butler and a sport utility vehicle driven by Jennifer Barger, 24, of Karns City collided on Route 68 in Oakland Township.1:42 p.m. Friday — A pickup truck driven by Kenneth Gililand, 73, of Butler struck a tree along Route 68 in Connoquenessing Township. Gilliland, who was not wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries.11:30 p.m. May 30 — Kirk Hulings, no age given, of Slippery Rock and Ronald Fleeger, no age given, of Butler were charged with simple assault following a fight at an Allen Lane home in Slippery Rock Township. Both men suffered minor to moderate facial injuries.
