Hinds

Dale Eugene Hinds, 70, of Portersville passed away in the VNA Inpatient Hospice late Thursday afternoon.

He was born Oct. 27, 1940, in Harrisville, and was the son of the late Frank E. and Lois G. Christy Hinds.

Dale was a U.S. Navy veteran who served his country from 1960 to 1963.

Dale was self-employed, owning and operating Dale Hinds Auto in Portersville for 35 years.

He attended the Portersville Alliance Church.

He was a licensed pilot, and enjoyed boating, fishing, racing, and flying.

He was a member of the Condor Aero Club in Zelienople.

He is survived by his wife, Roberta Susan “Sue” Miller Hinds, who he married Nov. 19, 1960; his children, Starlene O'Hara of Butler, Darlene (Randy) Dietrich of Portersville, and Donald Hinds at home; six grandchildren, Adrienne Hurd of Pittsburgh, Benjamin Hurd of Idaho, Justin O'Hara of Butler, and Kristen Christie, Sheri Dietrich and Jacob Dietrich, all of Portersville; three great-grandchildren, Brendan Hurd of Butler, and Kathryn Christie and Lindsay Smith of Portersville; his brother, Frank Hinds of Grove City; his sister, Marilyn (Dan) Cogswell of Texas; several nieces and nephews; and his in-laws, Gene “Stormy” (Gretchen) Miller of Florida, Georgia (Gene) Pelletier of Bessemer, and Diana (Rusty) Miller Flanagin of Portersville.

He was preceded in death by one son, Bruce Hinds; two sisters, Geraldine Cogswell and Beverley Christy; one brother-in-law, James Miller, and son-in-law, Randall O'Hara.

<B>HINDS</B> — Visitation for Dale Eugene Hinds, who died Thursday, March 17, 2011, will be Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. at the <B>Edward L. Raisley Funeral Home</B>., 387 Main St., Prospect.
